“Arrival”: Movie Musings

Science Fiction films have always provided a great platform for shaping strong female leads. Perhaps, for some, it was easier to imagine the existence of independent strong women in the imaginative worlds far far away.

But who is the Bravest of them all?

Still from movie Arrival (2016)
Arrival (2016)

Louise Banks in “Arrival”. The one who chose the years of happiness, knowing that at one point it’d result in a tragedy. Knowing the future and still going ahead. Choosing life. Choosing love. Choosing to see the smile of her daughter. Choosing the chance to dance with her. Choosing years of happiness, years of pain.

Louise knew what the future held for her and humanity.

But even for the rest of us, not knowing what the future holds, the bravest decision is choosing life and happiness.

“Arrival” is based on the 1998 short story “Story of Your Life” by Ted Chiang, get it from the KinoSelect Bookstore or try with Kindle Unlimited.
